FCS Employees Provide Christmas to Underprivileged Children

FCS Community Management and their inhouse foundation, FCS Gives, partnered up again with United Way to sponsor children for their annual Sub for Santa event. The United Way of Utah County’s Sub for Santa Program helps provide Christmas gifts to children from families falling on hard times. The program also provides a workshop for parents to learn budgeting resources and no-cost holiday traditions.

FCS Employees raised money throughout the year and by December 12, they had raised over $2,800! The money raised was almost 100% from employee contributions. When all was said and done, FCS raised enough funds to sponsor 28 kids in eight different families!

On Tuesday, December 13, FCS employees shopped in teams for their Sub for Santa Kids. Each team spent two hours shopping at such places as Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Old Navy, and Barnes and Noble. Employees purchased 2 items of clothing, 2 toys, and 1 book for each child. FCS Chief Morale Officer Carly Walker said, “It was a lot of fun shopping for each child – trying to imagine what styles and types of items they would enjoy!”

On Friday, December 16, FCS employees again went out in teams to deliver gifts and giftwrapping sets to each family. The parents were overjoyed at the generosity shown by FCS employees. Many families presented handmade cards, pictures and letters of sincere gratitude. One single mother wrote “Words cannot express how thankful I am. My kids will be so happy to wake up Christmas Morning and find what you have helped provide.” A young boy wrote in his letter “Thank you so much for doing this for our family even though we don’t know who you are. We all appreciate what you are doing!”
