We can’t believe our wedding events are just 11 days away (Safari Park Wedding Celebration Day & Dinner). Here is some information that we hope is helpful to you.

Please let us know if you have any questions and we will see you in San Diego!!!

Thursday, May 30th – Sandy & Mike arrive in San Diego

Friday, May 31st – Sandy & Mike’s families arrive in San Diego

Families are staying at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort, 1775 E. Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109

Other than a baby shower Sunday afternoon, we have no organized activities F night through M. Let us know what you are doing but we are planning on lots of beach/pool time.

MONDAY, June 3rd – San Diego Safari Park

15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92027, opens at 9 am. We recommend you download the San Diego Zoo Safari Park app to plan your day. You will check in at the Will Call window to receive your park admission and a wristband identifying you as part of our group. The Safari Park is like a zoo with lots of animal attractions. Two main things to do and complete before 5 pm – 1) The Africa Tram which is included in your admission and takes you on a tram tour through the savannah and at 2 pm make sure you catch the Journey into the Wild Show at the Benbough Amphitheater. The rest of morning and afternoon are yours. There are several up-close Safari experiences you can add on that range from $92 - $710 per person. Most are less than $100 and information and reservations are handled through the app or website.

Then at 5 pm we will begin our private evening event in our exclusive area Mombasa Pavilion. (If you are tired and just want to chill until 5 pm at the Pavilion, doors open to us technically at 4 pm.). At 5 pm there will be some fresh fruit and water available. Please arrive between 5:00 – 5:30 pm. At 5:45 pm we will be treated to a special “Wildlife Encounter” with park animal handlers bringing by a special guest just for our group. At 6:30 pm our dinner buffet will begin. At approximately 7:15 pm we will cut our wedding cake and say a couple of words. We will be wrapped up and leave the park at approximately 8 pm.

Extra tickets for children not attending the Tuesday ceremony: Please let us know ASAP if you have children attending Monday for the Safari Park admission and dinner/celebration. We are not capped for attendance like we are on Tuesday, but we have to have numbers to the caterers ASAP.

Dress: The Safari Park is inland and desert. It can get fairly warm. Check your weather app for the weather in Escondido (not San Diego). Most likely, you will want to be in shorts and t-shirts.

Food Allergy / Needs: Let us know if you have any special needs for food for the buffet.

Parking: We will send you a QR code to show the parking attendant when you enter that will cover the cost of the parking.

Wedding Procession Participants/Family: We have a dress rehearsal during the morning, at the wedding location. We should arrive to the Safari Park about 1 pm.

TUESDAY/WEDDING DAY, June 4th!

We have no organized plans during the day leading up to the wedding ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Cuvier Park - 555 Coast Blvd S, La Jolla, CA 92037 (this address is a general location and is used for reference only). Please go across the street towards the beach, cliff or park. The exact location could be a couple of hundred feet north or south of this address. The wedding ceremony will begin at 3:00 pm and will not last long (15-20 minutes). Please plan to arrive at the location no later than 2:30 pm.

Dress: Your best dress for a beach wedding. It should be only around 70 degrees but generally sunny and warm.

Parking: THERE IS NO PARKING for the park/beach/wedding, other than city street parking. Make sure to look at signs and plan enough time to walk a little bit to the location.

After the wedding – please stay for a group picture and you may leave when the family begins taking pictures. We are having no meal or dessert after the ceremony. It will be quick and easy and your attendance means the world to us.
